a circle is one note. an ellipse is a melody.
stretch an orbit and hear it — the pitch is the planet’s speed
An orbiting body moves fastest when it swings close to what it orbits, and slowest when it swings far away — the same rule, sweeping equal areas in equal times, that governs every real orbit. Mapped straight to pitch, that speed change is why stretching the ellipse turns a flat, steady tone into something that rises and falls with the orbit itself.
Concepts: orbits, harmony.
