Ivy

Ivy does not grow into the air. It climbs, holding on to whatever its stem touches, so what a vine turns into is decided by what happens to be standing next to it. In an empty yard the seedling here creeps a little way along the dirt, finds nothing to hold, and stops. Drop a crate, a tyre or a can and it turns, finds the edge, and goes up, opening leaves as it climbs until it has used up all the surface you gave it. The junk is not the scenery around the plant, it is the plant; and anything dropped on top of the vine takes back the part it lands on.
